The Healing Power of Immersive Sound

The pre­cise appli­ca­tion of immer­sive sound could open a vast new fron­tier to improve our health and the prac­tice of med­i­cine. As the coro­n­avirus pan­dem­ic has clear­ly shown, the health chal­lenges we face are both glob­al and high­ly per­son­al. Address­ing these chal­lenges is going to require align­ment of mis­sion and the smart appli­ca­tion of effec­tive tech­nolo­gies. The demands are com­pound­ed by a long-term trend toward per­son­al­ized med­i­cine and a more human­ized patient expe­ri­ence. Though sound and music have been applied to heal­ing for cen­turies, the abil­i­ty to deliv­er sound-based ther­a­pies at scale with high pre­ci­sion has long been lim­it­ed by the capa­bil­i­ties of audio technology.
