Stemilt treats organic apples with Apeel to extend freshness

Stemilt Grow­ers, Wenatchee, Wash., is using Apeel Science’s shelf-life exten­sion tech­nol­o­gy on Arti­san Organ­ics-brand­ed apples this sea­son.

Stemilt researched Apeel’s plant-based coat­ing, which helps pro­duce retain moisture.

“Our in-house research and devel­op­ment team has stud­ied Apeel on organ­ic apples for two years now, and we see it as a huge ben­e­fit in help­ing us on our jour­ney to deliv­er Arti­san Organ­ics apples with fla­vors and qual­i­ties that delight,” Bri­an­na Shales, senior mar­ket­ing man­ag­er, said in a news release.
