ROLE DESCRIPTION:
DBL is seeking a Part-Time Associate intern in the final year of their MBA or graduate degree, or otherwise available to work in a part time capacity, to work closely with senior investment team members. The Part-Time Associate will receive significant deal evaluation and execution responsibility, as well as hands-on mentorship from the DBL team. DBL is seeking candidates that are interested in pursuing a full-time Associate role with the firm post-graduation, and there is a pathway to a full-time role for candidates who excel in the Part-Time Associate role.
Typical responsibilities of a Full-Time DBL Associate are listed below. The responsibilities of the Part-Time Associate would include a subset of these responsibilities during the school year:
- Guiding, performing, and integrating all aspects of diligence of potential investments, including: management, market, product, competition, financial, legal, and technology
- Writing market research reports, deal summaries and investment memoranda
- Helping to manage DBL’s deal pipeline
- Supporting senior DBL investment professionals with portfolio company board work, including: capital structuring, strategic decision making, operational execution, financings, new business development, recruiting and other high value add activities
- Supporting portfolio companies in the execution of a double bottom line impact strategy — identifying new project opportunities, leading new initiatives, and connecting with relevant stakeholders in government, regulatory bodies, and economic development agencies
- Supporting DBL’s senior partners in firm operations, thought leadership, event preparation, and other day-to-day activities
- Assisting with the annual quantitative and qualitative reporting on the portfolio
- Managing and recruiting graduate-level interns
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have:
- A passion for impact investing, climate technology, policy and regulatory processes
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to fit into a small but diverse team
- Proactive, and self-motivated
- Service and detail oriented, and enjoy supporting others
- Several years of work experience that translates into understanding business models, relevant technologies, or impact investing. Ideally this is in a related field (VC/PE, startup, product management, investment banking, corporate development, strategy consulting, etc.) with an emphasis on sustainability
- Excellent writing and presentation creation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Intellectual curiosity and appetite for rigorous research
- High level of self-motivation, creativity, and comfort with lack of structure
- Final year of MBA or other Master’s degree program
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Location: Remote work okay during school year, full-time role would be based in the San Francisco Bay Area
