Drone­Seed is build­ing a one-stop solu­tion for refor­esta­tion that includes seed col­lec­tion, tree replant­i­ng, and car­bon off­set gen­er­a­tion. As cli­mate change con­tin­ues to dri­ve more fre­quent and severe wild­fires, DroneSeed’s approach accel­er­ates the time­line to begin fire-scarred ecosys­tem restora­tion from years to months. DroneSeed’s acqui­si­tion of Sil­vaSeed, a 130-year-old leader in seed and seedling pro­duc­tion, makes it the largest seed bank West of the Mis­sis­sip­pi. The com­pa­ny is lever­ag­ing this seed sup­ply and its FAA-approved drone tech­nol­o­gy to scale refor­esta­tion efforts across the West. In the process, the com­pa­ny gen­er­ates high-qual­i­ty, for­ward-look­ing car­bon off­sets that incen­tivize landown­ers of all kinds to restore forests and the vital ecosys­tem ser­vices they provide.
