Fol­low­ing their suc­cess­ful roll-out of avo­ca­dos with longer shelf-life in U.S. stores, the com­pa­ny has well and tru­ly left the start­ing block as it’s set to tack­le the food waste prob­lem glob­al­ly and save bil­lions in rot­ten pro­duce from farm to plate.

Just at the retail lev­el, the safe, nat­ur­al tech­nol­o­gy, “using food to pre­serve food,” accord­ing to founder James Rogers, has proven to reduce food waste by more than half as it dou­bles and even triples the shelf life of per­ish­able fruit and veg.

With avo­ca­dos alone, Apeel has seen a greater than 50% reduc­tion in food waste at retail,” says Rogers. “Less waste and shop­per sat­is­fac­tion is lead­ing to a sig­nif­i­cant spike in sales for retailers.”
