The Rise of Big Solar in Chile

SunEdi­son said Mon­day it has closed a $155 mil­lion loan for a 72.8‑megawatt project in Chile, which has become a hub of solar project development.

The Cal­i­for­nia com­pa­ny is get­ting the loan from the Over­seas Pri­vate Invest­ment Corp. (OPIC) and the Inter-Amer­i­can Devel­op­ment Bank. SunEdi­son also has secured a debt of $35 mil­lion from Chile-based CorpBanca.
