DBL Partners’ portfolio company EcoScraps is profiled on this Local Utah station on Earth Day, 2013. This company is definitely one to watch. Go buy their products at a local Target or at Amazon.com.

A local Utah company hits some major milestones on Earth Day.

The average American produces 1,600 pounds of garbage a year. EcoScraps is trying to counterbalance that number by converting that garbage into compost.

Dan Blake is the co-founder and CEO of EcoScraps, an organic lawn and garden products manufacturer.

Innovative by nature, Blake came up with the idea of EcoScraps while he was at an all-you-can-eat restaurant in college. His company, which repurposes produce food waste by turning it into compost and other sustainable products rather than send it to landfills, officially got underway in 2010.

Since then, Blake has quickly grown the company, and now has operations throughout the western United States that are processing more than 10,000 tons of waste annually.
